The oldest historical records tell us that whiskey originated along the north coast of Ireland. Whiskey has been made there for over 1,000 years, a craft passed down by generations of Irish inhabitants. Sir Thomas Phillips got his license to distill on those lands in 1608, making it the oldest licensed distillery in the world. A lot of whiskey was produced there — even before the governor of Bushmills, Sir Thomas Phillips, was granted the license to distill there in 1608. After all, Hugh Anderson was doing it in 1784, registering the very first trademark on a pot still."Single malt" means that a whiskey has been made at a "single" distillery and uses only "malted" barley in its recipe. Single malt whiskeys are considered the best because of the malted barley. Even centuries ago, malted barley was believed to be the finest grain for making whiskey. Whiskey was only made with barley until the 1800s, when the King of England imposed a tax on it. At that moment, most distilleries switched to corn, a cheaper ingredient, to make their whiskey. Most Irish whiskeys rely only on low-cost corn to make their whiskey to this day. But not Bushmills. Only Bushmills maintained this connection to whiskey’s origin.

About Bushmills

Midleton Very Rare is a brand under which the New Midleton Distillery from the East Cork town of Midleton produces its premium Irish whiskeys. The New Midleton Distillery started its operations in 1975, consolidating in one place the production of Irish Distillers Group, which was founded in 1966 through the merger of John Power & Son, John Jameson & Son and the Cork Distilleries Company (which owned the Old Midleton distillery). The distillery is best known for making the famous Jameson Whiskey, but also produces other well-known brands, such as Powers, Paddy and Redbreast. Midleton Very Rare was created in 1984 by Master Distiller Barry Crockett, who guided the New Midleton Distillery on its journey of creating the finest whiskeys in the world for over 30 years. Upon retiring in 2013, he passed the baton to his mentee Brian Nation, who continued to create special and unique whiskey across the Midleton Very Rare portfolio.Midleton Dair Ghaelach is a series of the distillery’s Irish pot still whiskeys matured in traditional bourbon barrels, and finished in Irish oak. Midleton Dair Ghaelach was the first whiskey in over 100 years to be matured in native Irish oak, and Knockrath Forest is the third release in the series. Irish oak barrels were not used before due to the lack of sustainable supply, however following the recent strides in the reforestation of Ireland, the distillers are now able to responsibly procure sustainable native oak for maturation.
Midleton Very Rare Dair Ghaelach Knockrath Forest Tree 2 is made from single pot still Irish whiskeys aged 15 to 28 years, which were matured in traditional Bourbon barrels. What makes it truly unique, are ad ditional 2 years of finishing in virgin Irish oak casks made from trees from the Knockrath Estate. This whiskey is bottled at cask strength of 56.3% ABV.

About The Macallan
Situated on a ridge above the banks of the River Spey, the Easter Elchies House has been the spiritual home of The Macallan for over three centuries. In 1820, Alexander Reid sowed the fields surrounding the rented home with barley and established the first licensed distillery on the estate, which he named Macallan after an ancient church that had been destroyed by fire during the 15th century. In the slow winter days, Reid would ferment and distill his excess grains into whisky, which was often drunk straight from the still or sold to travelers passing through the town.Today, the Macallan Estate encompasses 370 acres, 95 of which are devoted to the production of the Macallan Estate's Minstrel barley (a single acre produces about 2.5 tons of barley each year, enough to yield 1,800 bottles of The Macallan). In addition, the distillery contracts with farmers to purchase barley that is low in nitrogen and high in starch, resulting in a rich and oily whisky.
After the harvest, the barley is malted and mashed in one of The Macallan's two mash tuns, a process that takes between four and eight hours. Then, the barley is fermented with a specially cultured yeast before being distilled twice through The Macallan's copper-pot stills. The copper comprising the stills acts as a catalyst and enhances the formation of sweet esters while minimizing impurities such as sulfur. In addition, the curiously small s tills — some of "the smallest stills within the Scotch whisky industry," according to production manager Alexander Tweedie — produce a whisky with a heavy, oily flavor. Following distillation, The Macallan distillers remove the heads and tails of the whisky and collect approximately 16% of the spirit to fill into casks for maturation. This "cut," which is among the highest of any Scottish distillery, results in a more full-bodied and richer whisky.

About Mortlach 25 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Situated in the heart of the Speyside region of Scotland, Dufftown is known the Whisky Capital of the World. The village, which produces more malt whisky than any other town in Scotland, is home to seven distilleries, the oldest of which is Mortlach Distillery.Mortlach Distillery was founded in 1823 by James Findlater, together with his friends Alexander Gordon and James Macintosh. In 1831, however, Findlater sold the distillery to John Robertson for the paltry sum of ₤270. In 1837, it was sold again to John and James Grant, who dismantled the distilling equipment and shuttered the doors to the distillery. For the next two decades, the building was used first as a brewery, and then, rather curiously, a church. In 1851, however, the distillery began producing whisky once more. Even at the time, it was an impressive distillery, according to the Wine & Spirits Trade Record. The distillery had two still-houses: "in one there are three old-fashioned stills…in the other there are three larger stills, installed in 1897.” The distillery also had “four gigantic malt floors, and the largest mash tun in the district.”
In 1964, the distillery was largely rebuilt and today, houses a unique configuration of six stills. The stills — three wash stills and three spirit stills — are each different shapes and sizes (one still is nicknamed “Wee Witchie” because it is shaped like a witch’s cap), and aren’t paired together. This unusual configuration, together with the partial triple distillation method used at Mortlach Distillery, produces a whisky that is full-bodied and meaty.
Mortlach 25 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the oldest expression in Mortlach’s newest range of single malts. Presented in a bottle designed by Laurent Hainaut, the whisky has a deep, golden amber color. A woody, highly fragranced nose is balanced by tropical aromas, particularly mangos, pineapples and peaches. The palate develops with white chocolate, ginger and a light smoke, and leads to a sweet finish with more ginger and some cinnamon spice.

About Blanton's
In the winter of 1881, Albert Bacon Blanton was born on a farm situated just outside of Frankfort, Kentucky. At the age of 16, Blanton began working at the Old Fire Copper Distillery (often abbreviated O.F.C. Distillery) as an office boy. Over the next few years, Blanton reportedly worked in every department at the distillery. By the age of 20, he was appointed the superintendent of O.F.C, and worked there until his retirement in 1952.Much like his mentor, E.H. Taylor, Blanton was a traditional bourbon aristocrat, wedded to the production of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. Blanton identified a certain section of Warehouse H at his distillery, which he believed was the best for aging bourbon, and would personally select individual barrels from the se ction to bottle for his own private reserve.

"The Patrón Spirits Company was launched in 1989 by John Paul DeJoira and Martin Crowley. With its inception, came the world’s first ultra-premium Tequila. For the Willett family, distilling craft whiskey is a family tradition. John David Willlett began distilling at the Moore, Willett & Frenke Distillery just outside of Louisville, Kentucky, during Reconstruction. In 1898, his son, A. Lambert Willett — who was just 15 years old at the time — began apprenticing with his father. Eventually, Lambert purchased a farm on the outskirts of Bardstown, Kentucky, and began construction of the Willett Distilling Company in the spring of 1935. About English Harbour
Antigua Distillery Limited was formed in 1932 by a group of eight local entrepreneurs, who a few years earlier came together to buy molasses in bulk and control the distillation process for their rums. In 1933, the company opened a rum distillery on Rat Island in St. John's harbor and the first rum it produced was sold unaged in casks to local rum merchants and aged or matured as Caballero Rum. In 1947 ADL introduced its own label, Cavalier Muscovado Rum, and a lighter version of this rum is still marketed today as Cavalier Antigua Rum. In 1991, the distillery installed a 3-column pure copper still from John Dore & Co., modified on site to simulate 5 columns, which is the only column still in the Caribbean to which other metals have not been added.About Rum
Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.

In 1816, John Johnson founded the first legal distillery on the site, and within a year Archibald Campbell had opened a second. After Johnson's death, Alexander Graham acquired Johnston's distillery for £1,100 and eventually united the two distilleries together under the Lagavulin name. Since that time, the rich, peaty water that runs down the brown burn and through the Solan Lochs into the hills just next to Lagavulin Bay has served as the lifeblood of the distillery.Lagavulin is known as one of the most intense, smoky single malt whiskies ever made — the peated barley used to create Lagavulin Single Malt has up to twenty times as much exposure to peat smoke as compared to typical Scotches. Once the grains used to craft Lagavulin Whisky have been harvested and malted, they are dried over a peat and gas fire calibrated specifically to produce Lagavulin's signature, bold flavor profile. Then, the grains are milled and mashed before being fermented for approximately 72 hours. Following fermentation, the whisky is distilled twice — first through a wash still for approximately five hours and then again through a spirit distill for approximately nine hours. This is the slowe st distillation process of any Islay distillery, giving Lagavulin its characteristic round flavors and mellow edges.
