Little Book Chapter 3: The Road Home Blended Whiskey
About Little Book Chapter 3: The Road Home Blended Whiskey
Eighth generation Beam family member Freddie Noe comes from a long line of legendary distillers. In 2017 he achieved his vision of making his own line of whiskey, launching Little Book Whiskey. With over 220 years of tradition on his shoulders, he had some pretty large shoes to fill.Named in honor of the nickname Freddie’s grandfather Booker gave him: Little Book. This annual whiskey series features new, unique blends every year—his first batch of liquid gold was released in 2017 Little Book Chapter 1: The Easy Blended Straight Whiskey. Uncut, unfiltered and always one-of-a-kind, each small batch is a limited release, allowing Freddie innovate and explore the limitless potential of flavor.
Little Book Chapter 3 is the first Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey in the Little Book line from Freddie Noe. “The Road Home” references the road that I travel to and from on a regular basis, the same road my grandfather, Booker, traveled back when he used to work here at the distillery,” says Noe.
Little Book Chapter 3 is a blend of four barrel-strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskeys, one from each brand of the original Small Batch Bourbon Collection created by Freddie Noe’s grandfather Booker Noe in the early 1990s. The limited-edition blend consists of a nine-year-old Knob Creek and Basil Hayden’s Bourbons, an 11-year-old Booker’s Bourbon and a 12-year-old Baker’s Bourbon.
“The four liquids that I chose to go into this batch of Little Book are from the original small batch collection that my grandfather, Booker, created,” says Noe. The eighth-generation distiller tinkered with 57 different recipes before landing on the final blend, recipe number 51: a palate loaded with complexity from the vanilla, wood and caramel notes from the Knob Creek and Booker’s Bourbons, balanced by the “spiciness” of Basil Hayden’s. The Baker’s Bourbon imparts a lingering, warm and sweet finish.

About Johnnie Walker
Johnnie Walker, one of the most widely distributed brands of blended Scotch whisky in the world, originated in the Scottish burgh of Kilmarnock in East Ayrshire. The story of the brand starts with John Walker, who started a profitable groceries business with the inheritance from his father. John Walker, himself a teetotaler, found his competitive edge in whiskies he blended himself, offering his customers a consistent product, unlike most other grocers, who usually sold a line of single malts that were never all that consistent. Whisky represented about eight percent of the sales when John’s son Alexander Walker took over the business after his father’s death in 1857, and when the company was passed on to the third generation, this share was already between 90 and 95 percent. The legalization of the blending of grain and malt whiskies by the Spirits Act of 1860 marked the beginning of the modern blended Scotch whisky. Johnnie Walker's first commercial blend, called Old Highland Whisky, was launched in 1867. Alexander Walker also introduced the brand's signature square bottle, and the distinctive slanted label. In 1893, the Walkers acquired the Cardhu distillery, and kept expanding through the early 20th century by buying interests in a number of distilleries. This ensured the company a steady supply of whiskies for its blends. By 1909, John's grandsons George and Alexander II had expanded the line, and sold three blended whiskies. In 1909, the company rebranded its whiskies, introducing the famous striding man logo a nd renaming the blends after the colors of their labels. By 1920, Johnnie Walker could be bought in 120 countries. The company joined Distillers Company in 1925, and, after its acquisition by Guinness, and Guinness’s subsequent merger with Grand Metropolitan, the brand is now owned by Diageo.
About Scotch
Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)
Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.

Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon 2019 Edition
About Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon 2019 Edition
Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey is made from organic corn, wheat and barley. "We get about 30,000 pounds of corn, wheat and barley delivered a month," says Garrison. "The wheat comes from our own fields — we have 65 acres of wheat on the other side of the property."In addition, the corn is harvested from local fields in Texas while the barley is sourced from the Pacific Northwest.
Once the grains arrive at the distillery, they are milled and mashed before being fermented for four days. Following fermentation, the wash is distilled through an antique, copper pot still nicknamed the copper cowgirl. "She was made as an experimental still," says Garrison, "for Wild Turkey Distillery." After the bourbon has been distilled, it is aged in charred, American oak barrels. "The char softens the wood, and allows the bourbon to expand into the wood. When it gets hot — and it gets hot out here in Texas — that bourbon will soak deep into the wood and extract the chemical compounds that are in there."
This 2019 Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon clocks in at a high-octane 137.7 proof. It is drawn from the distillery team’s favorite barrels, which were set aside for a couple of years for further maturation. The liquid is bottled at cask-strength, uncut and unfiltered. Each barrel used in this 2019 release was aged up to five years.
“It takes a special barrel to create a bourbon nectar sweet enough to be enjoyed at such a high proof, the potency normally overpowers the flavor. That ain’t the case with the Cowboy – it’s so sweet, the flavor overpowers its proof. And you can thank the Texas heat for that” (Garrison Brothers Distillery).

It's an extension of Bob Dylan's connection to Ireland and the Irish Clancy Brothers who inspired his music.About American Whiskey
There are two main representatives of the American whiskey family, bourbon, and rye, but some other spirits don't fall into those two strictly regulated categories.
There's equally strictly regulated American single malt, made from 100% malted barley, Tennessee whiskey, essentially bourbon filtered through maple charcoal and aged in new charred oak barrels.
And then there's moonshine, a high proof (150- 170 proof) distilled spirit mainly made out of corn which gained popularity during the prohibition.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year Of The Rat Limited Edition Blended Scotch Whisky
About Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year Of The Rat Limited Edition Blended Scotch Whisky
Johnnie Walker Blue Label Blended Scotch Whisky represents the epitome of blending and the pinnacle whisky of the House of Walker. The blend was personally created by James Beveridge, Johnnie Walker's Master Distiller, and is crafted to reflect the style of whiskies produced by Johnnie and Alexander Walker in the 19th century."I think of blending as being like the process of writing," says Beveridge. "Is the final book just a series of words, a lot of facts and information, or has it been put together with care and attention so that the end result will relate to the person who reads it? If it does, then that, you could argue, is magic blending, like writing, like any creative process, is much more involved in the world of ideas, with trying to connect with the whisky drinker. I like to think that we have made that connection."
Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year Of The Rat is the latest release from Johnnie Walker’s Zodiac Collection. This limited edition design was created in honor of the “Year Of The Rat” a celebration of the traditions of Asian culture and incredible longstanding heritage of the Chinese Zodiac.

Cognac is a type of brandy produced in the Cognac region of France.
Because the French take it very seriously, there are numerous rules cognac makers have to follow not to fall “short” into the brandy category.
The white wine from the specific grapes (Ugni blanc) has to be doubly distilled in a copper pot still before being aged for at least two years in oak casks from which the wood can only come from two specific forests in France (Limousin or Tronçais).
Depending on the age, there are three types of cognac, the youngest V.S. (Very Special), V.S.O.P. (Very Superior Old Pale), and the X.O. (Extra Old)

Bruichladdich 1988/30 Rare Cask Series: The Untouchable
About Bruichladdich 1988/30 Rare Cask Series: The Untouchable
Bruichladdich is an award-winning distillery employing generations of distilling knowledge and the principle of minimal intervention. Built in 1881 on the wild Scottish island of Islay, their distillery still uses the original Victorian equipment to create a range of single malt whiskies that are trickle distilled, matured and bottled solely on Islay by a skilled team of men and women. Bruichladdich implements revolutionary, modern interpretations of time-honored ideas and challenges the comfortable conventions of a whisky establishment.Rejecting the onset of modern automation and homogenization, Bruichladdich Head Distiller, Adam Hannett, only considers production methods that place the quality of liquid above everything else. Diversity starts in the field. Provenance is key. They believe the interaction of man, land, soil and climate is paramount. They value their farmer relationships, reconnecting that lost cycle between farmer and distiller - land and spirit.
The modern Bruichladdich Distillery is known as the most experimental and adventurous of the Scottish distilleries. Head distiller Adam Hannett has released a series of three very old Bruichladdich whiskies that he describes as ”The last of their kind.” A series of three very old whiskies from 1984, 1985, and 1986 that Adam says are, “rare, old single malts are a direct link to our past, to the men who made truly special spirit here while facing very different circumstances to those which we enjoy today. Testament to their skill and hard work it was laid down to mature by the shores of Loch Indaal, unaware of what the future might bring.”
This exceptional, ultra-rare Bruichladdich 1988/30 has never been re-casked; deemed to be get the most from its refill Bourbon casks it was laid in to, 30 years ago. Matured 100% in the same Refill Bourbon casks from 1988, this is a limited release of only 5,800 bottles available worldwide.
