About Willett Family Estate 6 Year Old Single Barrel Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Today, Even Kulsveen, Thompson Willett's son-in-law and the owner of Willett Distilling Company, continues to shepherd the family legacy forward, releasing Kentucky bourbon and rye whiskeys. In 2012, the renovated distillery opened its doors and the pot still became operational for the first time. The Willett Family Estate 6 Year Old is produced with a wheated bourbon mash bill. The single barrel no. 6601 has spent its 6 years in hand-selected American white oak before being bottled at 127.2 proof. You can expect a big, bold, complex, and pleasantly sweet whiskey with vanilla, caramel, and spice notes.

About Willett

For the Willett family, distilling craft whiskey is a family tradition. John David Willlett began distilling at the Moore, Willett & Frenke Distillery just outside of Louisville, Kentucky, during Reconstruction. In 1898, his son, A. Lambert Willett — who was just 15 years old at the time — began apprenticing with his father. Eventually, Lambert purchased a farm on the outskirts of Bardstown, Kentucky, and began construction of the Willett Distilling Company in the spring of 1935. While Willett Distilling Company eventually changed its name to Kentucky Bourbon Distillers, the family traditi on lives on. Even Kulsveen, the owner of KBD, is Willett's son-in-law.

About Woodford Reserve

The Woodford Reserve Distillery sits on what was once an old Distillery founded by Elijah and his son, Oscar Pepper, in the 1800s. Years later, under the stewardship of Oscar and Master Distiller James Crow, their distillery reformed and modernized producing whiskey in the United States — the distillery revolutionized the concepts of sour mash and yeast propagation.

Today, the distillery is among Kentucky's oldest and smallest bourbon disti lleries. Nestled in the heart of the Commonwealth's thoroughbred country, it's the only place you'll find bourbon and horses maturing side by side. It's also one of a handful of spirits companies in the world to own a cooperage and craft its barrels, allowing for ultimate precision when creating exact toast and char specifications.

About Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Brandy Cask Finish Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Finished in Brandy Casks is the eleventh and latest release in Woodford’s esteemed Master’s Collection series. The fully matured whiskey, which was personally developed by Morris, is finished in brandy casks for two years. This is the first whiskey to be aged in American brandy casks, which emphasize the rich flavors of dried fruit and nuts developed through Woodford’s grain selection and fermentation process.

As a result, Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Finished in Brandy Casks has an aroma of chocolate, maple syrup, and dark dried fruits. The palate of toasted hazelnuts and toffee covered fruit is accented by wood and spicy notes, with a warming caramel finish.

"As with every Master's Collection release, this expression highlights Woodford Reserve's creativity and dedication to innovation. I'm extremely proud to say we've yet again done something very special," said Master Distiller Chris Morris. "Among Woodford Reserve's many flavors include fruit and spice notes which the brandy casks emphasize. Both products showcase rich, intense vanilla notes from their barrel maturation making the combination of the two a true success."

Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Finished in Brandy Casks is a brand-new, limited edition whiskey, and we have only a small number of bottles available. Pick one up today!

Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Classic & Straight Malt Whiskies

About Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Classic & Straight Malt Whiskies

Woodford Reserve Double Malt Selections represents the eighth expression in the Master's Collection series. The release includes two whiskies: Woodford Reserve Classic Malt and Woodford Reserve Straight Malt Whiskey. "Our legal department would not let us call it "˜single malt' because it's not made in Ireland or Scotland,"Morris says. Each whiskey is made exclusively from malted barley and then triple distilled through traditional, copper-pot stills. Following distillation, Woodford Reserve Classic Malt is aged for nine years in casks that were formerly used to mature bourbon. These types of casks are traditionally used to mature Scotch, and contribute notes of buttered bread, strawberries and vanilla to the whisky. In addition, these casks give the whiskey a long, malty finish.

Woodford Reserve Straight Malt Whiskey is aged for nine years in casks composed of new, American oak. These types of casks are traditionally used to mature American whiskies such as bourbon or rye. As a result, they contribute more tannins to the whiskey, and give the whiskey an aroma of oats, rich oak and caramel. The aroma gives way to notes of spicy cinnamon and cloves on the palate, which are balanced by hints of citrus, bananas and pears. The finish is long and warm, with a touch of sweetness. Woodford Reserve Classic Malt and Woodford Reserve Straight Malt are limited edition products, and we have only a select number of sets available. Pick up a bottle of each today!

About Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Very Fine Rare Bourbon

Woodford Reserve’s Distillery houses an impressive 500-foot-long gravity-fed barrel run, along with their iconic copper pot stills, and 100-year-old cypress wood fermenters. Their facility also has one of the only heat cycled barrelhouses in the world. An impressive mechanism that gives Woodford Reserve its color and signature flavor. Produced under the Brown-Forman Corporation, Woodford Reserve Bourbons are premium spirits crafted in small batches and aged in new char oak barrels. This artisanal process allows them to "craft using all five sources of bourbon flavor, giving it its distinct taste and crisp, clean finish."

The 15th release in Woodford's Master's Collection is a turning point for the series, shifting the focus to the innovation of Master Distiller Chris Morris and Assistant Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall. The expression includes barrels as old as 17 years, which is when Morris took up the mantle as Master Distiller. Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 Edition Single Malt Whisky

About Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 Edition Single Malt Whisky

The Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 is made from 100% malted barley, which is milled and mashed before being fermented with water sourced from the foothills of Mount Tenno. The water is said to be have been preferred by Sen No Rikyu, Japan's legendary tea master. After the barley has been fermented, the wash is distilled through Suntory's copper-pot stills — the first of their kind outside of Scotland — before the whisky is aged in casks which used to hold oloroso sherry giving it a rich and fruity taste profile.

"This is all done by hand — the traditional way," says Osamu Abe, the manager of Yamazaki distillery, referring to the cooperage taking place at the distillery. "This is called yagura — craftsmanship. You must watch and listen to how they're made. In Japan, we say "use all 5 senses." Of course we learn from others, but our own senses are key.

Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 was named "Whisky of the Year" by Jim Murray's Whiskey Bible.

About Yamazaki

In February 1899, Shinjiro Torii opened a store in Osaka, Japan, that imported and sold wine. Within a decade, Torii began producing his own sweet grape wine called Akadama Port Wine, which became wildly popular throughout the country. In 1923, Torri, who had been fascinated by whisky his entire life, decided to expand his business and began construction of the Yamazaki Distillery, Japan's first-ever whisky distillery.

Although inspired by traditional Scottish distilleries, Torii envisioned a uniquely Japanese approach to whisky and chose a location for his distillery that offered a climate and terrain that were completely different to those of Scotland. Nestled on the periphery of Kyoto, Yamazaki Distillery is situated at the confluence of three rivers — the Katsura, Uji, and Kizu — that provide the warm, damp environment ideal for the production and maturation of whisky.
