About Adelphi Selection Glen Garioch 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Situated in the village of Old Meldrum in the Scottish Highlands, the Glen Garioch (pronounced Glen Geery) Distillery was founded in 1797 by John and Alexander Manson. The distillery is one of the oldest in Scotland, and takes its name from the Valley of the Garioch, which is situated adjacent to the distillery and is known for producing the finest barley in all of Scotland. The distillery — the most easterly in Scotland — enjoys the temperate climate and cool breeze that are ideal for the production and maturation of whisky.Glen Garioch Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from barley harvested from the Valley of the Garioch. After the barley has been harvested, it is mashed and fermented with water drawn from the Silent Spring. In 1968, production of whisky at Glen Garioch Distillery was suspended as the area surrounding the distillery experienced a severe drought. Four years later, an incredibly pure spring was discovered upon a neighboring farm. The Silent Spring, as it came to be known, could neither be seen nor heard without modern instruments, and has been Glen Garioch's water source for over four decades. Once the barley has been fermented, it is distilled twice — first through Glen Garioch copper-pot wash still and then again through its spirit still.
This Adelphi Selection is non chill filtered, and bottled without any additives. Each bottling is very limited, each cask yielding anywhere between 100 and 700 bottles. “Identifying only the very best casks allows us to offer a range of styles and regions with our panel of professional ‘noses’ chaired by world authority on Scotch whisky and Master of the Quaich, Charles MacLean” (producer). This beautiful single malt has rich notes of chocolate and butter y caramel.

About Angel's Envy
After graduating college, Lincoln Henderson joined Brown-Forman as a grain chemist and was eventually promoted to Master Distiller. During his 40-year tenure at Brown-Forman, he honed his skills while developing new brands such as Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Jack Daniel Distillery "Gentleman Jack" and Jack Daniel Distillery Single Barrel Whiskey. In addition to being responsible for the development of new products, Henderson oversaw quality control, technical distillery supervision, and sensory evaluation. "I never regretted a day when I had to go to work," says Henderson, who was awarded Malt Advocate's Lifetime Achievement Award and was an inaugural member of the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame.After retiring from Brown-Forman, Henderson decided to go rogue and launched Angel's Envy Bourbon. "Angel's Envy is a lot of things," said Henderson. "It's my life's work. It's a whiskey of incomparable smoothness. It takes into account over 200 years of bourbon heritage an d mingles it with over 400 years of port wine heritage." The name is derived from the term "angel's share" ― the portion of whiskey that evaporates as it ages in wooden barrels. The long and sophisticated process of making this premium cognac stars with the grapes. Hennessy uses the late-maturing variety Ugni blanc, which provides just the right balance between high acidity and low alcohol content for creating well-balanced eaux-de-vie (water of life). It takes approximately 12 kg of grapes to obtain one liter of eau-de-vie. Pressing the grapes produces 9 liters of wine, which is first distilled to make 3 liters of brouillis, and for the second time to make one liter of pure eau-de-vie. These eaux-de-vie are then put in French oak barrels and stored in special, carefully monitored cellars. Every day, the Hennessey tasting committee meets to select or reject eaux-de-vie, and the selected barrels are then sampled annually throughout maturation. This process is steered by Master Blender Renaud Fillioux de Gironde, who became Hennessy’s eighth-generation master blender from the same family after having learned the secrets of the craft from his uncle, Yann Fillioux. The creation of premium cognac does not end at aging. The Master Blender and the Tasting Committee meticulously select the eaux-de-vie for blending, consistently replicating perfection and taste.At the end of 2021, Hennessy partnered with French artist Julien Colombier, releasing 3 limited-edition bottles in celebration of the holiday spirit: a VS, VSOP, and XO. The self-taught artist contributed the design of the bottles, inspired by nature and art deco. Hennessy X.O (X.O stands for extra old) was created in 1870 by Maurice Hennessy for his circle of friends. It was the first cognac to be labeled extra old. About Cadenhead Strathclyde 26 Year Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky
Strathclyde distillery was built on the site of an old cotton mill, in 1927 by London distiller Seager Evans. The facility was originally built as a neutral grain spirit producer for gins. Strathclyde is now Glasgow’s most prosperous distillery. In 1936, Seager Evans moved made the move into the Scotch industry with the purchase of the brand Long John.Strathclyde distillery sits in the Gorbals located in the Lowlands, on the south side of the River Clyde opposite Glasgow Green park. Over the years, Strathclyde underwent numerous ownerships, before ending up within Allied Distillers. By this time Strathclyde had been supplying some of their single grain to big names such as Ballantine’s and Teacher’s. Strathclyde is now part of the Chivas Brothers stable.
After Port Dundas shut down in 2009, Strathclyde was the only remaining whisky distillery in Glasgow for several years. Strathclyde sources its water from the Loch Katrine. Their whiskies are distilled through a 2 column system that has an analyzer and rectifier column, the columns once used for neutral production have since been mothballed.
The entire grain whisky production at Strathclyde is intended for developing blends, but there have been independent and private bottlings. This single grain Strathclyde whisky was released by Cadenhead’s. W.M. Cadenhead is an iconic whisky bottler. The original company was established by William Cadenhead in 1842.
This special small batch release was matured in a single fresh first fill bourbon cask for 26 years. Only 168 bottles of this whisky exist in the world. "A fantastic rich aromatic, smooth Strathclyde…This vintage has a deep orange amber color that almost looks like sherry cask with some rather amazing sherry-like notes after it's opened in the glass for about 10-15 mins. Very enjoyable indeed" (producer).

The nose is rich and full. Golden rum notes begin the journey with this elegant single grain. Roasted peanuts with fresh brandy snaps and banoffee pie. Some aniseed notes with hints of treacle toffee, some fresh mint lifts the palate slightly, followed by banana yogurt to give the middle palate a nice big mouthfeel. The finish has some soft olive oil notes that will make way for some vanilla custard with some rather nice raspberry sorbet.
