Adelphi Selection Glen Garioch 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
About Adelphi Selection Glen Garioch 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Situated in the village of Old Meldrum in the Scottish Highlands, the Glen Garioch (pronounced Glen Geery) Distillery was founded in 1797 by John and Alexander Manson. The distillery is one of the oldest in Scotland, and takes its name from the Valley of the Garioch, which is situated adjacent to the distillery and is known for producing the finest barley in all of Scotland. The distillery — the most easterly in Scotland — enjoys the temperate climate and cool breeze that are ideal for the production and maturation of whisky.Glen Garioch Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from barley harvested from the Valley of the Garioch. After the barley has been harvested, it is mashed and fermented with water drawn from the Silent Spring. In 1968, production of whisky at Glen Garioch Distillery was suspended as the area surrounding the distillery experienced a severe drought. Four years later, an incredibly pure spring was discovered upon a neighboring farm. The Silent Spring, as it came to be known, could neither be seen nor heard without modern instruments, and has been Glen Garioch's water source for over four decades. Once the barley has been fermented, it is distilled twice — first through Glen Garioch copper-pot wash still and then again through its spirit still.
This Adelphi Selection is non chill filtered, and bottled without any additives. Each bottling is very limited, each cask yielding anywhere between 100 and 700 bottles. “Identifying only the very best casks allows us to offer a range of styles and regions with our panel of professional ‘noses’ chaired by world authority on Scotch whisky and Master of the Quaich, Charles MacLean” (producer). This beautiful single malt has rich notes of chocolate and butter y caramel.

About Scotch
Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)
Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.

About Angel's Envy
After graduating college, Lincoln Henderson joined Brown-Forman as a grain chemist and was eventually promoted to Master Distiller. During his 40-year tenure at Brown-Forman, he honed his skills while developing new brands such as Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Jack Daniel Distillery "Gentleman Jack" and Jack Daniel Distillery Single Barrel Whiskey. In addition to being responsible for the development of new products, Henderson oversaw quality control, technical distillery supervision, and sensory evaluation. "I never regretted a day when I had to go to work," says Henderson, who was awarded Malt Advocate's Lifetime Achievement Award and was an inaugural member of the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame. After retiring from Brown-Forman, Henderson decided to go rogue and launched Angel's Envy Bourbon. "Angel's Envy is a lot of things," said Henderson. "It's my life's work. It's a whiskey of incomparable smoothness. It takes into account over 200 years of bourbon heritage an d mingles it with over 400 years of port wine heritage." The name is derived from the term "angel's share" ― the portion of whiskey that evaporates as it ages in wooden barrels. After tasting the bourbon, Henderson realized that the angels might want a larger cut. The family operation is now run by his son Wes Henderson.

About Appleton Estate
In 1655, a British expedition led by Sir William Penn and General Robert Venables captured the island of Jamaica from the Spanish. Following the conquest, Frances Dickinson — a soldier in Venables' army — was granted land in exchange for his honorable services. This land would eventually become the foundation of the Appleton Estate.Since 1749, the Appleton Estate has been crafting some of the world's finest rum from sugarcane grown on it's 11,000 acre estate. Once the sugarcane is harvested, it is fermented with exceptionally soft water that originates on the Estate and is naturally filtered through limestone hills. In addition, the fermentation proce ss uses a proprietary strain of yeast that contributes a unique aroma and flavor profile to the rum. Following fermentation, the rum is distilled through copper pot and column stills.

Glenmorangie Ealanta 19 Year Old Single Malt Scotch
About Glenmorangie Ealanta 19 Year Old Single Malt Scotch
Following distillation, Glenmorangie Ealanta Single Malt Whisky was aged for 19 years in heavily toasted virgin oak casks. "Toasting just gives an altogether more subtle taste experience," says Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie's Master of Whisky creation. Lumsden, who holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry (he wrote his dissertation on yeast physiology) and is the only person in the world to have been honored with Whisky Advocate's "Industry Leader of the Year" award three times, is one of the most respected figures in the Scotch whisky industry. "Charred oak gives a large amount of flavor really quickly and while it may work beautifully for the oily, gutsy spirits distilled in Kentucky and Tennessee, it's not ideally suited for our rather refined and delicate Scottish spirit." As a result, Lumsden aged Ealanta exclusively in casks that were coopered from slow growth oak after being air-seasoned for just one year, as opposed to the traditional 18 to 24 months. After the whisky was poured into the heavily-toasted casks, it was allowed to mature in Warehouse 3, one of Glenmorangie's dunnage-style warehouses, which is equipped with stone walls and damp floors. "Rather than driving the extractives out of the wood, which you would get in a typical Kentucky heated warehouse, this allows the flavors in the wood to be coaxed out very gently, and it develops a lot of complexity," says Lumsden.
Following its 19-year beauty rest, Glenmorangie Ealanta Single Malt Whisky was non-chill filtered and bottled in its natural color at 92 proof.
Glenmorangie Ealanta was named the 2014 World Whisky of the Year by Jim Murray's Whisky Bible, with a score of 97.5 points — the highest score ever. Only a select number of bottles were made for the Private Edition collection.

About Glenmorangie
In 1738, a brewery was built upon Morangie Farm in the Highlands region of Scotland. A century later, William Matheson acquired the farm and equipped the Morangie brewery with two stills that he purchased second-hand, and renamed the brewery-converted-distillery Glenmorangie.Glenmorangie Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made using malted barley, which is mashed and fermented with water sourced from the Tarlogie Spring. The water produced from the spring, which spends nearly a century underground being filtered through layers of limestone before it is extracted, is unusually rich in minerals. In the 1980s, when development in th e area threatened the spring's water quality, Glenmorangie purchased 600 acres of land around and including the spring in order to ensure consistent water quality and adequate supply.
After the barley has been fermented, the wash is twice distilled through Glenmorangie's copper-pot stills by a team of 16 distillers known as the Sixteen Men of Tain. Glenmorangie's stills are equipped with relatively small boiler pots, which increases the exposure of the whisky to the copper, resulting in a more pure flavor. In addition, the stills are nearly seventeen feet tall — the tallest of any distillery in Scotland — and as a result, produce a lighter, more refined whisky.
