Ardbeg Arrrrrrrdbeg! Committee Release 2020 Scotch Whisky
About Ardbeg Arrrrrrrdbeg! Committee Release 2020 Scotch Whisky
Situated along the southern coast of the island of Islay, Ardbeg Distillery was founded in 1815 by the MacDougall family. By the end of the 19th century, nearly one-third of the population of the island was employed at the distillery, which became notorious for producing some of the boldest and most robust Scotch whisky in the industry. Today, the distillery remains a testament to Scottish innovation and heritage.Ardbeg Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from malted barley, which is peated to approximately 50 phenol parts per million. Once the peated barley arrives at the distillery, it is milled and mashed with water sourced from Loch Uigeadail before being fermented in washbacks made of Oregon pine. While wooden washbacks are more expensive and difficult to maintain as compared to stainless steel washbacks, they absorb a portion of the heat generated during the fermentation process and thus, create a lighter and richer whisky. In addition, the wooden washbacks contribute carbolic compounds to the whisky.
Following fermentation, which lasts for 55 hours, the wash is distilled twice, first through a copper-pot wash still and then again through a copper-pot spirit still. The spirit still is equipped with a purifier, which acts as a small condenser and causes a portion of the evaporating vapors to be pumped back into the pot and then re-distilled. This purification process, which is rare in the industry, results in whisky that has a signature fresh and malty flavor.
Islay has only 3,000 inhabitants and more than 140 committees, the largest of these being the Ardbeg Committee. With over 120,000 global members, the Ardbeg Committee serves the common purpose of celebrating Ardbeg whisky. Arrrrrrrdbeg! Committee Release 2020 celebrates Mickey Heads' 13 years of leadership. The expression is bottled at 103.6 proof and was matured entirely in ex-rye casks. It's brimming with fruity notes.

About Scotch
Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)
Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.

Auchentoshan 32 Year Old 1979 Oloroso Sherry Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky
About Auchentoshan 32 Year Old 1979 Oloroso Sherry Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Auchentoshan Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from malted, optic barley that is gently kilned and completely unpeated. The barley is milled and mashed before being fermented in wooden washbacks made from Oregon Pine. The wooden washbacks (as opposed to the stainless steel washbacks used at most distilleries) retain a portion of the heat produced during fermentation, and ultimately produce a lighter and slightly sweeter whisky. While Scotch whisky is traditionally distilled twice, Auchentoshan Single Malt Scotch is copper-pot distilled three times — first through a wash still, then through an intermediate still, and finally, through a spirit still. This extra step during distillation — no other major distillery uses an intermediate still — is both time-consuming and expensive, but it produces a 160-proof Whisky that is incredibly pure and free of impurities.
This 32-year-old is a single-cask expression that was distilled in 1979. It has spent the entirety of its maturation in a first-fill oloroso sherry cask before being bottled at 101 proof. Fruity and spicy, it's a wonderfully mature whisky that showcases the triple-distilled Lowland style with panache.

About Auchentoshan
Situated at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills in Western Scotland, Auchentoshan (pronounced Aw-khen-tosh-an) Distillery was founded in 1800 and is one of the last remaining Lowland Single Malt Whisky distilleries. The distillery is nicknamed "Glasgow's Distillery" due to its proximity to the eponymous city, and its whisky is nicknamed "breakfast whisky" due to its sweet flavor and elegant texture. During World War II, the distillery was bombed relentlessly by Germany, and much of the whisky that was being matured in its rickhouses was lost to fire or spilled into the Clyde River, which is situated adjacent to the distillery. Following the end of the war, the distillery was reb uilt and today, it remains a testament to Scottish perseverance and innovation.About Scotch

Balblair 1969 Single Malt Scotch Whisky
About Balblair 1969 Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Balblair Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from plump, ripe Scottish barley, which is malted and fermented using water from the same source the Ross Family began using nearly 225 years ago. Following fermentation, the grains are twice distilled through the Balblair's copper-pot stills. After distillation, Balblair's stillmen remove the heads and tails of the distillate and preserve only the "hearts"for maturation (the hearts comprise less than 20% of the entire distillate).Unlike other Scottish distilleries that bottle their whiskies with an age statement, Balblair Distillery bottles its whisky with a vintage statement. This method of bottling, which emphasizes maturity rather than age, allows Balblair's Distillery Manager — John MacDonald — to bottle the whisky when it has reached its peak flavor profile. "There's something quite special about a perfectly matured, Highland single malt whisky," says MacDonald. "About having the essence of a vintage year, captured in a bottle. About tasting it. About feeling it."
Balblair 1969 Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled in 1969 and aged for 43 years in American ex-bourbon hogshead casks, before being bottled at natural strength in 2012. The 1969 vintage is the oldest in Balblair’s entire U.S. portfolio, and extremely-limited due to the fact that only two casks were used to produce the entire release.
Balblair 1969 Single Malt Scotch Whisky has a rich amber color, along with an aromatic nose filled with apples, pears, bananas and a hint of vanilla. The aroma gives way to notes of honey, toffee and tropical fruits, and leads to a long, full-bodied finish.

About Balblair
Balblair, founded in 1790 by John Ross, is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. The distillery was operated by the Ross family until the late 19th century, when James Ross gave up the tenancy of Balblair to Alexander Cowan, a wine merchant from Inverness. In 1911, Balblair ceased its distilling operations, and in 1932 the last whisky from the era was bottled. In 1948, Balblair resumed production under the stewardship of Robert James "Bertie " Cumming, a solicitor from Banff, who purchased the distillery for £48,000 a year later. In 1970, he sold the company to Hiram Walker, and throughout the 1980s extensive investments were made in the development of the distillery’s facilities. The distillery, located in the Highland village of Edderton, was acquired by Inver House Distillers in 1996.About Scotch

Bruichladdich Black Art 05.1
About Bruichladdich Black Art 05.1
Bruichladdich is an award-winning distillery employing generations of distilling knowledge and the principle of minimal intervention.Built in 1881 on the wild Scottish island of Islay, our distillery still uses the original Victorian equipment to create a range of single malt whiskies that are trickle distilled, matured and bottled solely on Islay by a skilled team of 78 men and women.
Bruichladdich implements revolutionary, modern interpretations of time-honored ideas and challenges the comfortable conventions of a whisky establishment. Rejecting the onset of modern automation and homogenization, our Head Distiller, Adam Hannett, only considers production methods that place the quality of liquid above everything else.
Diversity starts in the field. Provenance is key. We believe the interaction of man, land, soil and climate is paramount. We value our farmer relationships, reconnecting that lost cycle between farmer and distiller -- land and spirit.
This highly anticipated fifth release of the mystic single malt is just as enigmatic as the last. With the Bruichladdich Black Art 5.1 24 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, the torch has now passed from retired Master Distiller Jim McEwan to Adam Hannett (now the Head Distiller) who has formulated an entirely new secret recipe. Unlike its predecessor, this fifth expression is more traditional, with less wine influence. Finding the right cask combination is an art of alchemy, and the exact method of this release is kept secret. All that is known is that the youngest whisky was distilled in 1992. It is bottled at cask strength.
"Just before jim retired in 2015 he took me to one side and handed me his recipe for the next iteration, black art 5. it was an emotional moment, the handing over of responsibility of one of the greatest drams we’ve ever created. i have to say i took the recipe from jim’s hand and dutifully ignored it. this had to be my black art.” - Adam Hannett
On the nose are complex, mystifying notes of stewed dark fruits, and polished wood. The palate is creamy, with fruity notes of apricot, and orange peel, and sweet notes of toffee and buckwheat honey. The finish is viscous with wood spice.

The palate is graceful, and through the velvet quality that comes from the age of the spirit, you find damson, mango, pineapple, melon straw-berry, plum and apricot. One after the other they weave in and out of focus on your palate while the structure of the oak gives honey, tobacco, vanilla and hints of spicy cinnamon.
Light stone fruits and a cream texture are a delight with a perfect balance of oak, malt and fruit. Giving way to a a gentle floral mellowness that leaves a lasting impression.
Four Roses Small Batch Limited Edition 2020 Bourbon Whiskey
About Four Roses Small Batch Limited Edition 2020 Bourbon Whiskey
Following Prohibition, Four Roses Kentucky Straight Bourbon became the top-selling bourbon in the United States. In 1943, Seagram’s bought the distillery and a decade later, discontinued the sale of Four Roses Kentucky Straight Bourbon. In 2002, the distillery changed hands again, and the new owner brought a renewed sense of purpose and vigor to Four Roses.A signature trait of Four Roses is their use of full transparency; they display the different distillates and recipes that go into each bottle. This showcases how the limited edition blends have evolved year after year. Historically The Four Roses Distillery has been known to use five different yeast strains and two mash bills at any given time. This means that a total of 10 different distillates can be used to blend their bourbons. Every barrel at Four Roses is labeled with a four-letter code. Each yeast strain and mash bill is identified by corresponding letters K, O, Q, F, V (for the mash bills) and E and O (for the yeast strains).
There's a special edition, small-batch bourbon that Four Roses releases every September in honor of National Bourbon Month. The 2020 release is a 111.4-proof bourbon that is bottled without chill-filtration and is crafted with a hand-picked selection of batches: a 12YO OBSV-recipe bourbon, a 12-year-old OESV, a 19-year-old OBSK, and a 16-year-old OESK. "Each batch in this year’s limited edition bottling is an exceptional whiskey that could have stood on its own as a single barrel offering, but in this case the sum is even greater than the parts. Together these bring a perfect balance of bright, vibrant flavors and aromas from the 12 and 16-year-old barrels combined with the oak tones and aged expressions from the 19-year-old batch," says Master Distiller Brent Elliott. As a non-core range limited edition, once this bourbon is gone, it’s gone forever.
