About Ardbeg Arrrrrrrdbeg! Committee Release 2020 Scotch Whisky
Situated along the southern coast of the island of Islay, Ardbeg Distillery was founded in 1815 by the MacDougall family. By the end of the 19th century, nearly one-third of the population of the island was employed at the distillery, which became notorious for producing some of the boldest and most robust Scotch whisky in the industry. Today, the distillery remains a testament to Scottish innovation and heritage.Ardbeg Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from malted barley, which is peated to approximately 50 phenol parts per million. Once the peated barley arrives at the distillery, it is milled and mashed with water sourced from Loch Uigeadail before being fermented in washbacks made of Oregon pine. While wooden washbacks are more expensive and difficult to maintain as compared to stainless steel washbacks, they absorb a portion of the heat generated during the fermentation process and thus, create a lighter and richer whisky. In addition, the wooden washbacks contribute carbolic compounds to the whisky.
Following fermentation, which lasts for 55 hours, the wash is distilled twice, first through a copper-pot wash still and then again through a copper-pot spirit still. The spirit still is equipped with a purifier, which acts as a small condenser and causes a portion of the evaporating vapors to be pumped back into the pot and then re-distilled. This purification process, which is rare in the industry, results in whisky that has a signature fresh and malty flavor.
Islay has only 3,000 inhabitants and more than 140 committees, the largest of these being the Ardbeg Committee. With over 120,000 global members, the Ardbeg Committee serves the common purpose of celebrating Ardbeg whisky. Arrrrrrrdbeg! Committee Release 2020 celebrates Mickey Heads' 13 years of leadership. The expression is bottled at 103.6 proof and was matured entirely in ex-rye casks. It's brimming with fruity notes.

Smoked banana & pear are on the nose with rye bread, vanilla sweetness, toffee, and hints of aniseed. Water brings out citrusy aromas. The palate is spicy with a lot of fruit including melon and kiwi. Aniseed, smoked toffee, and sourdough biscuits make an appearance. The finish is long with brine, nuts, and a touch of smoke.

Auchentoshan Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from malted, optic barley that is gently kilned and completely unpeated. The barley is milled and mashed before being fermented in wooden washbacks made from Oregon Pine. The wooden washbacks (as opposed to the stainless steel washbacks used at most distilleries) retain a portion of the heat produced during fermentation, and ultimately produce a lighter and slightly sweeter whisky.While Scotch whisky is traditionally distilled twice, Auchentoshan Single Malt Scotch is copper-pot distilled three times — first through a wash still, then through an intermediate still, and finally, through a spirit still. This extra step during distillation — no other major distillery uses an intermediate still — is both time-consuming and expensive, but it produces a 160-proof Whisky that is incredibly pure and free of impurities.
This 32-year-old is a single-cask expression that was distilled in 1979. It has spent the entirety of its maturation in a first-fill oloroso sherry cask before being bottled at 101 proof. Fruity and spicy, it's a wonderfully mature whisky that showcases the triple-distilled Lowland style with panache.

About Auchentoshan
Situated at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills in Western Scotland, Auchentoshan (pronounced Aw-khen-tosh-an) Distillery was founded in 1800 and is one of the last remaining Lowland Single Malt Whisky distilleries. After distillation, Balblair's stillmen remove the heads and tails of the distillate and preserve only the "hearts"for maturation (the hearts comprise less than 20% of the entire distillate).Unlike other Scottish distilleries that bottle their whiskies with an age statement, Balblair Distillery bottles its whisky with a vintage statement. Inspired by an entrepreneurial flair and a youthful enthusiasm, the Harvey brothers began construction of the Bruichladdich (pronounced brook-laddie or broo-lah-dee) Distillery in 1881. The brothers were descendants of a dynastic whisky family — their ancestors had already owned distilleries in Scotland for over a century. Today, Bruichladdich Distillery (Bruichladdich means "rocky shore" in ancient Gaelic) remains situated on the shores of Loch Indaal on the island of Islay, and continues to use much of the original equipment installed by the Harvey brothers.The modern Bruichladdich Distillery is known as the most experimental and adventurous of the Scottish distilleries, and the Bruichladdich Octomore Series represents a singularly unique expression in the world of Scotch whisky.
Bruichladdich Octomore 7.1 is the distillery’s final release under Master Distiller Jim McEwan’s tenure. The whisky takes its name from Octomore Farm, a farm situated high above the village of Port Charlotte, just two miles away from Bruichladdich Distillery (the farm provides all of the barley used to create the whisky). Harvested from mainland Scotland, the barley used in this release is then malted before being peated to an absurdly high 208 phenol parts per million, making it one of the peatiest whiskies in the world.
After the barley has been peated, it is mashed using water drawn from the Bruichladdich loch. The water is soft and devoid of minerality, which makes it ideal for mashing and fermenting the barley. Following fermentation, the wash is twice distilled through Bruichladdich's 130 year-old, 20-foot tall, diamond-shaped stills. The Victorian-era stills produce whisky that is notably floral and elegant. "We have a distillery," says Jim McEwan, the master distiller at Bruichladdich, "and we know how to use it."
Once the whisky has been distilled, it is matured for five years in American oak before being bottled at 119 proof without the use of chill filtration or artificial coloring. As a result, Bruichladdich Octomore 7.1 has a sandy color, with aromas of sea spray, caramel, lemon peel and tobacco. The palate is filled with bright notes of peach, citrus fruits and honey, and is complemented by heavier notes of chimney smoke and leather. The peat is evident on the finish, with bold flavors coming together for a long, memorable sensation.
“The feeling is of long summer nights turning cooler as autumn approaches. This dram will transport you to Islay, to watch the sun setting over the sea while breathing in the peat smoke hanging in the air,” says McEwan.

Situated adjacent to the Burn of Rothes in the Speyside region of Scotland, The Glenrothes Distillery was founded by in 1879 by James Stuart, who had previously been employed at The Macallan Distillery. The distillery's history is marred by tragedy — in 1897, construction workers who were attempting to expand the capacity of the distillery started a fire that consumed much of the distillery. Twenty-five years later, a fire at the distillery's original warehouse caused the loss of 200,000 gallons of maturing whisky. Jefferson's Bourbon is a blender and bottler of spirits. Launched in 1997 by Trey and his father Chet Zoeller, a bourbon historian. First released in 1997, Jefferson’s has several offerings in their lineup, and utilizes very innovative and experimental blending and aging techniques. For example, their Jefferson’s Ocean expression is a bourbon, aged on a ship at sea, exposed to extreme weather conditions, crafting a truly distinct spirit.In the innovative spirit of aging Jefferson’s whiskeys in truly innovative ways and in various cask types, they have merged the sweetness of the Chateau Suduiraut wine and the toasted staves of those French oak wine casks with their well seasoned, complex Kentucky Straight Bourbon. This yielded the Jefferson’s Grand Selection Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes Cask.
After hand selecting forty Suduiraut barrels, refilling them with Jefferson’s Reserve bourbon, and extra aging them in a proprietary “hot box” environment, they have created a one of a kind bourbon full of character and flavor. This expression combines the sweetness of Sauternes, the wood notes of both American and French oak, and the grain of premium bourbon in a delicious, complex and balanced final product.

About Jefferson's
The principal author of the Declaration of Independence and one of the most illustrious founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson was elected the third President of the United States in 1800. During his tenure as President, Jefferson authorized the purchase of the Louisiana Territory, dispatched Lewis and Clark westward to explore the remainder of the continent, and repealed the Whiskey Excise Tax.After Jefferson retired from public office in 1815, he often tended to the garden that he had cultivated at his Monticello estate. At the time, it was customary for wealthy farmers, including Jefferson, to make their own garden spirits. Each farmer's spirits were unique and reflected their personal tastes and the local terroir of their farm. Jefferson's Reserve Very Old Straight Bourbon Whiskey is crafted by Chet and Trey Zoeller in honor of Jefferson and his experimental nature. While the Zoellers were inspired by Jefferson, their roots can be traced back for generations deep into Kentucky's bourbon history.
