Benromach 25 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
About Benromach 25 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Benromach 25 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky was crafted by the previous owners of the distillery. The whisky was made exclusively from malted barley, which was milled and mashed before being fermented in the distillery's wooden washbacks (the washbacks, which are the same washbacks Gordon & MacPhail continue to use, are made of European Larch). While wooden washbacks are more expensive and difficult to maintain as compared to stainless steel washbacks, they absorb a portion of the heat generated during fermentation, and thus allow for a more elegant and refined whisky. Following fermentation, the whisky was aged for a quarter century in refill American hogshead casks. As a result of its 25-year beautyrest, the whisky has an aroma of butterscotch and fruit (particularly pears, mango and papaya). The aroma gives way to notes of orange marmalade, fruit compote and honeyed oak on the palate, with hints of toffee and simmering spices on the finish. Benromach 25 Year Old earned a score of 92 points from Whisky Intelligence. Pick up a bottle today!About Benromach
Situated on the outskirts of the ancient Royal Borough of Forres, Benromach Distillery was founded in 1898 by Duncan McCallum, a former distiller at the Glen Nevis Distillery in Campbeltown, and FW Brickman, a former spirits broker from Edinburgh. After just two short years of operation, McCallum and Brickman were forced to close the doors to Benromach Distillery and since then, the distillery has changed hands a number of times. In 1993, malt whisky specialists Gordon & MacPhail acquired the distillery and began refurbishing it. The experts at Gordon & MacPhail took five years to re-equip the distillery with two new stills and secure the water rights to Champelton Springs in Romach Hills. On October 15, 1998, Benromach Di stillery was officially reopened by Prince Charles of Wales.About Scotch
Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.) Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt. About Black Button
In 2012, Jason Barrett became the head distiller and founder of Black Button Distilling – at only 24 years old. Coming from a family of the finest men's suit buttons makers, worn by "Presidents, Popes, Kings, and Businessmen the world over", Barret worked in his grandfather’s factory when he was younger, but soon realized he wanted to carve out his own path. After graduating, Barrett returned to his hometown of Rochester, New York, to follow his passion – make whiskey and open a craft distillery, the first in Rochester since Prohibition times. Named Black Button because of a family inside joke – Barret is color blind and the family always joked that they’d need to produce only black buttons if we were to take over the family business – every small batch of Black Button spirits is made from local NY grains with over 90% of ingredients grown or produced in New York State. Everything from corn, wheat, rye, and barley to dairy cream and apple cider comes from family farms in New York State to s upport local and sustainable agriculture. They even grow their own juniper for Black Button gin at the Black Button Farm in South Bristol. Besides whiskey and gin, Black Button’s wide range includes vodka, moonshine, and liqueur.

Lock Stock & Barrel Limited Release 13 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey
About Lock Stock & Barrel Limited Release 13 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey
The origins of rye whiskey in the United States date back to colonial America, when early European settlers brought with them the tradition of distilling excess grains from their farms into whiskey. For over a century, the production of rye whiskey centered around Pennsylvania and Maryland, where large numbers of Scottish and Irish immigrants had settled. The popularity of rye whiskey grew steadily among the colonists, and when the British blockade of American ports during the American Revolutionary War prevented the importation of rum, rye whiskey became America's drink of choice.Inspired by America's rich rye heritage, Robert Cooper crafted Lock Stock & Barrel Limited Release 13 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey. Cooper is a third-generation distiller — his grandfather, Maurice, founded Cooper Brewery in the early 20th century and his father, Sky, worked at a distillery known as Charles Jacquin et Cie.
Lock Stock & Barrel Limited Release 13 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey is crafted in Pennsylvania — the birthplace of rye whiskey — from 100% rye grains. The rye is grown in the Pacific Northwest, where only grains that exhibit the perfect combination of weight, plumpness and rich, earthy fragrance are harvested. After the grains have been milled and mashed, they are fermented before being distilled through a double copper-pot still. Following distillation, the rye is aged in new, charred American oak casks for 13 years before being bottled at nearly barrel proof (101.3 proof).
As a result of its extra-long maturation, the rye has an aroma of salted caramel, buttered popcorn and toffee. The aroma gives way to complex notes of sweet vanilla, milk chocolate, roasted co ffee and honeyed oak, which are nicely balanced with a subtle spicy undertone, and lead a sweet, elegant finish.
Lock Stock and Barrel Rye Whiskey is a "Whiskeyman's Whiskey." It earned the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2014, and a score of 94 points from the Ultimate Beverage Challenge. Pick up a bottle today!
About Rye
As American as the bald eagle, rye whiskey was first brewed in the American Northeast in the 1600s. Even George Washington distilled it after leaving the Oval Office, so there’s no way of denying its origin.
It’s distinguished from bourbon for its original and unique spicy notes.
By law, rye whiskey must be made from at least 51% rye grain, aged in new and charred oak barrels for at least two years, and bottled at no more than 62,5% ABV.

Bruichladdich Octomore 07.1 Scottish Barley Single Malt Scotch Whisky
About Bruichladdich Octomore 07.1 Scottish Barley Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Inspired by an entrepreneurial flair and a youthful enthusiasm, the Harvey brothers began construction of the Bruichladdich (pronounced brook-laddie or broo-lah-dee) Distillery in 1881. The brothers were descendants of a dynastic whisky family — their ancestors had already owned distilleries in Scotland for over a century. Today, Bruichladdich Distillery (Bruichladdich means "rocky shore" in ancient Gaelic) remains situated on the shores of Loch Indaal on the island of Islay, and continues to use much of the original equipment installed by the Harvey brothers. The modern Bruichladdich Distillery is known as the most experimental and adventurous of the Scottish distilleries, and the Bruichladdich Octomore Series represents a singularly unique expression in the world of Scotch whisky.
Bruichladdich Octomore 7.1 is the distillery’s final release under Master Distiller Jim McEwan’s tenure. The whisky takes its name from Octomore Farm, a farm situated high above the village of Port Charlotte, just two miles away from Bruichladdich Distillery (the farm provides all of the barley used to create the whisky). Harvested from mainland Scotland, the barley used in this release is then malted before being peated to an absurdly high 208 phenol parts per million, making it one of the peatiest whiskies in the world.
After the barley has been peated, it is mashed using water drawn from the Bruichladdich loch. The water is soft and devoid of minerality, which makes it ideal for mashing and fermenting the barley. Following fermentation, the wash is twice distilled through Bruichladdich's 130 year-old, 20-foot tall, diamond-shaped stills. The Victorian-era stills produce whisky that is notably floral and elegant. "We have a distillery," says Jim McEwan, the master distiller at Bruichladdich, "and we know how to use it."
Once the whisky has been distilled, it is matured for five years in American oak before being bottled at 119 proof without the use of chill filtration or artificial coloring. As a result, Bruichladdich Octomore 7.1 has a sandy color, with aromas of sea spray, caramel, lemon peel and tobacco. The palate is filled with bright notes of peach, citrus fruits and honey, and is complemented by heavier notes of chimney smoke and leather. The peat is evident on the finish, with bold flavors coming together for a long, memorable sensation.
“The feeling is of long summer nights turning cooler as autumn approaches. This dram will transport you to Islay, to watch the sun setting over the sea while breathing in the peat smoke hanging in the air,” says McEwan.
