The Tun 1509 series from The Balvenie was a popular series that saw the release of 8 batches. Starting in 2014, Tun 1509 was born as a successor to Tun 1401, the first in the Tun range in which the fourth Malt Master David C. Stewart selects some of his favorite rare casks from the oldest warehouses. Stewart received his MBE from Queen Elizabeth II in 2016 for his services to the Scotch Whisky Industry. Tun 1509 Batch #4 had Stewart select 23 casks ― 13 American oak barrels and 10 European oak sherry butts from their most precious stocks. About The Balvenie
Born into poverty in December 1839, William Grant became a cattle herder at the age of 7 in order to supplement his family's income. As a teenager, Grant apprenticed as a cobbler and a clerk, and in 1866, he joined Mortlach Distillery as a bookkeeper. For the next two decades, Grant managed the affairs at the distillery, while secretly learning the art of distillation. In 1886, he resigned from his position as distillery manager and bought a field beneath the towering shadows of Balvenie Castle, which he eventually converted into The Balvenie Distillery. Today, The Balvenie Distillery, situated in the Speyside region of Scotland, remains one of the most prestigious independent distilleries in all of Scotland.The Balvenie Single Malt Whisky is made from fresh, plump barley grown on Balvenie Mains, a 1,000 acre farm situated adjacent to the distillery (the farm has been the distillery's source for barley for over a century). After the barley is harvested, it is malted at the distillery with spring water sourced from the rolling Speyside hills that overlook the distillery. During the malting process, the barley is turned up to four times a day in order to ensure that it germinates evenly (The Balvenie is the only single malt Scotch whisky distillery that continues to grow and malt its own barley).
Once the barley has been malted, it is milled and mashed at the distillery before being fermented using a proprietary strain of yeast. Following fermentation, the wash is distilled twice, first through Balvenie's copper-pot wash still and then again through its copper-pot spirit still. "The most important reason for using a copper still," explains Dennis McBain, Balvenie's coppersmith, "is that it acts as a catalyst. It removes any sulphur which may be carried over from the fermentation process prior to distillation."McBain, who joined Balvenie Distillery in 1959, is one of the oldest coppersmiths remaining in the industry.
In addition, the size and shape of Balvenie's stills — the stills' necks have unique boil balls that are nicknamed "Balvenie Bowls"- results in Balvenie's signature bold and malty flavor profile. "The size and shape of the boil ball allow for the vapors to mix before continuing up the head," explains McBain. "That helps make The Balvenie special."

The use of wooden barrels to store and transport liquids dates back to 2690 B.C., when ancient Egyptians during the Early Dynastic Period began replacing clay vessels with wooden casks in order to meet the demands of their sprawling civilization. The advantages of wooden barrels were evident — not only were they less fragile than clay vessels, but their cylindrical shape allowed them to be rolled rather than carried across short distances. As settlers along the Nile quickly realized, however, barrels made from wooden staves imparted a unique color and flavor profile to the liquids stored within. The Classic Cask 40 Year Old Rare Scotch Whisky is a 40 year-old whisky that was blended together under the supervision of renowned Master Blenders David Hallgarten and Robert Mendelshon. Together, the pair sourced some of the finest whiskies in Scotland that had already aged for 15 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Once the whiskies were identified, they were blended together and put back in their original casks for an additional 25 years. After this quarter-century beautyrest, the whiskies were finished for six more months in casks that were previously used to mature Oloroso sherry. The Classic Cask 40 Year Old Rare Scotch Whisky has an incredible aroma of raisins, maple syrup, dates and warm spices. Notes of marzipan, figs, honeyed oak, red fruits and chili dominate the palate, and lead to a finish accented by hints of mint, oak and cherries. Dalmore Distillery 1974 Single Malt Scotch Whisky is part of the distillery's "Rare and Prestigious"collection. The whisky was distilled in 1974 and matured for approximately 32 years in casks that were previously used to mature bourbon. After its three-decade long beautyrest, the whisky was finished in a single, thirty-year old Matusalem sherry butt from the Gonzalez Byass for an additional four years. "Only the best selected American white oak cask is used during the maturation process," says Richard Paterson, Dalmore Distillery's Master Distiller, "but it is the unique Matusalem sherry butt from Gonzalez Byass that transforms it into something so rich and intense." The used sherry cask sourced from Spain contributes rich and opulent notes of raisins, caramelized orange, dates and figs to the whisky, and complement its notes of honeyed oak and cinnamon spice.Dalmore Distillery 1974 Single Malt Scotch Whisky has a rich, copper-reddish color, along with an aroma of roasted nuts, peach, honey and brown sugar. The notes of dried fruits, figs, raisins, cherries and raspberries complement notes of cola, cinnamon and woody spices, and add to a long, balanced finish. The whisky earned the Platinum Medal at the International Review of Spirits, and earned a score of 99 points from the Beverage Testing Institute, which said that the whisky was "amazingly rich and vibrant"and was blessed with a "a deep, feminine soul."

About The Dalmore
Situated along the banks of Cromarty Firth in the Highlands region of Scotland, Dalmore Distillery was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, who had earned his fortune illegally importing opium from the Far East. In 1886, Matheson sold Dalmore Distillery to Clan MacKenzie, whose century-long stewardship and defining influence over the distillery is still evident today — the 12-point stag adorned on every bottle of Dalmore Distillery Whisky is derived from Clan MacKenzie's coat of arms.Dalmore Distillery Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from plump, golden barley sourced from the rich, coastal soils of the Black Isle. Once the barley has been harvested, it is milled and mashed before being fermented with water drawn from the Cromarty Firth. Prior to reaching the firth, however, the water travels from Loch Morie through a number of peat bogs and limestone quarries, and t hus, contributes a slightly mineral and chewy mouthfeel to the whisky.
Once the barley has been fermented, the wash is distilled twice, first through Dalmore Distillery's copper-pot wash stills and then again through its copper-pot spirit stills. The wash stills have an unusually flat top, while the spirit stills are equipped with cold water jackets. This unusual equipment — the water jackets rinse cold water near the top of the still — makes it difficult for the lighter elements of the whisky to pass through the still, and ultimately results in a more opulent and rich whisky.

Situated along the Kildalton coast on the island of Islay, Port Ellen Distillery was founded in 1825 by Alexander Ker Mackay. At the time, the distillery became renown for its innovative and experimental techniques: it was the first distillery to incorporate Septimus Fox's spirit safe design into its distillation process, and was one of the first distilleries to trade directly with the United States.Over the course of the 20th century, however, the distillery changed hands numerous times. In 1966, Port Ellen Distillery was reopened (it had been forced to close its doors as a result of Prohibition) and refurbished with four new stills heated by a mechanical coal stoker system. Although the distillery was forced to close its doors again in 1983 as a result of slumping demand, the whisky distilled in the 17 years between its re-opening and final closure has acquired a reputation as some of the finest to have ever been made.
The First Edition 31 Year Old Port Ellen Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled in 1982 at the famed distillery and bottled in 2014. As a result of the unique, smoky peat used during distillation, the whisky has an intense and complex flavor profile. It has a sweet aroma of dried citrus, stone fruits and pepper that give way to notes of pears, apples, cinnamon, cloves and tart cherries on the palate, which are complemented with a subtle undertone of smoke and peat. The finish is constantly evolving, with hints of cloves, ginger, berries and oak tannins.
Bottled at cask strength in a stunning Glencairn crystal decanter, the whisky is enclosed in a rosewood box and includes two crystal glasses and a certificate of authenticity.

During the early 19th century, illegal distilleries were commonplace throughout the Speyside region of Scotland. In 1823, however, Alexander Gordon pushed the Excise Act of 1823 through Parliament. The Excise Act allowed illegal distillers throughout Scotland to apply for and obtain licenses to legally distill spirits. In 1824, a businessman named George Smith applied for one of the first licenses in the Speyside region of Scotland and opened the doors to The Glenlivet Distillery. About The Glenrothes
Situated adjacent to the Burn of Rothes in the Speyside region of Scotland, The Glenrothes Distillery was founded by in 1879 by James Stuart, who had previously been employed at The Macallan Distillery. The distillery's history is marred by tragedy — in 1897, construction workers who were attempting to expand the capacity of the distillery started a fire that consumed much of the distillery. Twenty-five years later, a fire at the distillery's original warehouse caused the loss of 200,000 gallons of maturing whisky. Despite having lost ten copper-pot stills in various accidents since its founding, the Glenrothes Distillery is now a picture of tranquility.Glenrothes Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from plump, ripe Scottish barley that is malted and fermented using water sourced from the Ardcanny and Brauchhill springs, which are situated adjacent to the distillery. Following fermentation, the grains are twice distilled through the Glenrothes' copper-pot stills. The stills, which were designed and fashioned to be exact replicas of the original stills installed in 1879, are incredibly tall and uniquely shaped, which contributes to the overall light and sweet flavor of the whisky. After distillation, The Glenrothes' stillmen remove the heads and tails of the distillate and preserve only the "hearts"for maturation (the hearts comprise less than 20% of the entire distillate).

Mezcal de Leyendas Reservas de la Biosfera is part of a special collection, dedicated to Mexico's national parks. This is the first release in the series, crafted by the Ortega family, which brings together three generations of maestro mezcaleros working side by side. This artisanal mezcal blanco is made from two types of agave: marmorata and macrocantha, that grow in Tehuacán, Puebla. It's double distilled in copper pot stills and bottled at 96 proof, delivering a smooth tasting experience with mineral saline and slightly peaty notes, rounded by a very long finish.Mezcal de Leyendas is focused on bringing artisanal mezcals using rare and unique agaves from different regions within Mexico. Instead of focusing on one particular type, their aim is to use the most prevalent agaves from each region allowing them to guide the consumer across the entire DO of mezcal. These are sourced from diverse regions, highlighting the local terroir as well as showcasing the skills of local Maestros Mezcaleros. Each region ― be it Durango, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Puebla, or San Luis Potosi ― features one master producer of mezcal.
But they do far more than just that. In 2005 they opened the first Mexico City establishment that only sells artisanal mezcal helping spark the boom we see in mezcal today. The 2020 Edition of their Papa Seal Rum continues in the vein of its ultra-premium single barrel predecessor, which has garnered numerous awards, including a 2019 Rum of The Year by the Caribbean Journal and 92 points by Tasting Panel. It was named after the CEO and father of the Goslings family of rum-makers, Malcolm Gosling, known among family and friends as "Papa Seal". This second release is a blend of pot and column-still rums that have spent between 10 and 21 years in hand-selected once-used medium-char bourbon barrels.After blending, the liquid spends an additional 2 years in American white oak, letting the aromas and flavors marry in the humid and salty air of Bermuda. After filtration, the rum is bottled at 83 proof. Only 1500 bottles of this mellow and elegant rum were produced for the US market in 2020. Each cask was carefully hand-picked, every bottle meticulously bottled and labeled by hand. This expression is one of the few single barrel rums available on the market today.

About Goslings
The story of Goslings Rum is a serendipitous one, dating as far back as 1806, when James Gosling ventured out to sea at the request of his father. Gosling was heading towards Virginia, equipped with wines and spirits worth 10,000 pounds Sterling. 91 days into the trip the charter on the ship Mercury ran out, forcing Gosling to settle in Bermuda. Eventually he decided to open a wine and spirits shop on the island, the rest is history.Upon his return to England in 1824 James Gosling opened a shop with his brother Ambrose, which has been in the Gosling family ever since. Their first rum, the Black Seal, was produced nearly half a century later in 1863. Produced in Bermuda, the Black Seal is synonymous with the island. Today, the family business is in the 7th genera tion of Goslings, who continue to lead company, as the largest exporter of any Bermuda made product. Goslings is also the only company that blends and bottles on the island.
Over a century and a half later, the family’s patriarch Malcolm Gosling made the decision to reveal the secrets of their family’s successful Caribbean elixir. Goslings Family Reserve Rum is crafted from the same blend of ingredients as their flagship Black Seal Rum. The differentiating factor is the increased amount of time the rum spends inside of the ex-bourbon oak barrels, giving it more complexity and overall depth.

Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.

Oban Single Malt Whisky is made using 100% barley, which is malted to the distillery's exact specifications. After the barley is malted, it is partially germinated and gently dried over a peat kiln, giving it a slightly smoky, malty flavor profile. The malted barley is then mashed and fermented before being twice-distilled through Oban's lantern-shaped copper-pot stills. The stills are among the smallest in Scotland, and limit Oban's production to just 650,000 liters of whisky annually.Oban 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the third limited release whisky produced by Oban Distillery in its 219-year history. Released as part of Diageo's 2013 Special Release Whiskies, Oban 21 Year Old was matured for 21 years in rejuvenated American oak and second-fill ex-bodega casks before being bottled at cask strength. The whisky has a copper-golden color, along with an aroma of warm gingerbread, caramel, maple syrup and spicy apples. The aroma gives way to notes of creamy vanilla, barley, stewed pears and ginger on the palate, and leads to a finish accented by salty tang and lemon zest.

About Oban
After moving with their widowed mother to the small port city of Oban (situated in northwest Scotland), John and Hugh Stevenson took jobs building and repairing boats at the city's boatyard, a trade they had learned from their late father. In the 1790s, the brothers left their boat-making jobs and founded a brewery in the city. In 1794, they converted their brewery into Oban Distillery, one of the oldest and most prestigious distilleries in Scotland.For nearly a century, Oban Distillery remained in the hands of the Stevenson family. In 1883, however, J. Walter Higgin purchased the distillery and began renovations. While Higgin renovated both the distillery's equipment and structure, he did so piecemeal in order to ensure that the distillery was able to meet the uninterrupted demand for its whisky. Today, over 100 years later, Oban Distillery remains substantially the same as it was after Higgin's refurbishment.
