Wild Turkey Master’s Keep 17 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the oldest whiskey ever released by Wild Turkey, and the first to be released since Eddie Russell joined his father as Master Distiller earlier in 2015. Distilled in 1997, when Wild Turkey encountered a surplus of bourbon and shortage of space, Eddie decided to move the bourbon that would become Master’s Keep to a stone warehouse 200 miles away. After 17 years, Eddie believed the barrels had reached their peak flavor, and transported them back to Wild Turkey’s wooden warehouses before bottling them. Interestingly, the bourbon had fallen to 86.8 proof, the cask strength at which it was then bottled.“Master’s Keep is the result of a lot of experimentation, patience and faith,” says Eddie Russell.
As a result of this unique aging process, Wild Turkey Master’s Keep 17 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey has a beautiful auburn color and aroma of caramel, vanilla, peaches, apricots and burnt sugar. About Wild Turkey
Following the end of the American Civil War, the Ripy Brothers returned to their native state of Kentucky and, together, opened a distillery on the slopes of a hill in Lawrenceburg. The distillery operated continuously for nearly fifty years until the 18th Amendment, which prohibited the sale of alcohol in the United States, was ratified. Following the end of Prohibition, the Ripy Brothers Distillery was reopened, and a distillery executive named Thomas McCarthy took samples of maturing whiskey from the distillery on a turkey hunt with a group of friends. The follow ing year, his friends asked him to bring "some of that wild turkey whiskey" on their next hunt, giving birth to the distillery's new name.Today, Wild Turkey Distillery is stewarded by Master Distiller Jimmy Russell and his son Eddie Russell (together, the pair have over 90 years of experience producing bourbon). "I was born and raised in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky," says Jimmy, "which was a small community when I was growing up, but there were four bourbon distilleries here, and you had families working all the distilleries. You wanted to get in the business. My grandfather and my father, me, and now my son, we've all been in the business."

About The Macallan No.6 The Masters Decanter Series Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The Macallan No. 6 delivers classic Macallan character, starting with the beautiful dark walnut color, complex aroma, and deep flavors of spice, dried fruit, and orange groves, imparted by first fill sherry seasoned oak casks from Spain. The casks are crafted by master craftsmen from Jerez de la Frontera, the home of sherry. The casks come from a single cooperage to ensure the highest quality for this rich single malt. Bringing together the mastery of The Macallan and the craftsmanship Lalique, this piece of timeless elegance comes in the beautiful Lalique crystal decanter that was designed exclusively for The Macallan.Situated on a ridge above the banks of the River Spey, the Easter Elchies House has been the spiritual home of The Macallan for over three centuries. In 1820, Alexander Reid sowed the fields surrounding the rented home with barley and established the first licensed distillery on the estate, which he named Macallan after an ancient church that had been destroyed by fire during the 15th century. In the slow winter days, Reid would ferment and distill his excess grains into whisky, which was often drunk straight from the still or sold to travelers passing through the town.
Today, The Macallan Estate encompasses 370 acres, 95 of which are devoted to the production of The Macallan Estate's Minstrel barley (a single acre produces about 2.5 tons of barley each year, enough to yield 1,800 bottles of The Macallan). In addition, the distillery contracts with farmers to purchase barley that is low in nitrogen and high in starch, resulting in a rich and oily whisky.
After the harvest, the barley is malted and mashed in one of The Macallan's two mash tuns, a process that takes between four and eight hours. Then, the barley is fermented with a specially cultured yeast before being distilled twice through The Macallan's copper-pot stills. The copper comprising the stills acts as a catalyst and enhances the formation of sweet esters while minimizing impurities such as sulfur. In addition, the curiously small stills — some of "the smallest stills within the Scotch whisky industry," according to production manager Alexander Tweedie — produce a whisky with a heavy, oily flavor.
Following distillation, The Macallan distillers remove the heads and tails of the whisky and collect approximately 16% of the spirit to fill into casks for maturation. This "cut," which is among the highest of any Scottish distillery, results in a more full-bodied and richer whisky.

About Bruichladdich Octomore 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Inspired by an entrepreneurial flair and a youthful enthusiasm, the Harvey brothers began construction of the Bruichladdich (pronounced brook-laddie or broo-lah-dee) Distillery in 1881. The brothers were descendants of a dynastic whisky family — their ancestors had already owned distilleries in Scotland for over a century. Today, Bruichladdich Distillery (Bruichladdich means "rocky shore"in ancient Gaelic) remains situated on the shores of Loch Indaal on the island of Islay, and continues to use much of the original equipment installed by the Harvey brothers.The modern Bruichladdich Distillery is known as the most experimental and adventurous of the Scottish distilleries, and the Bruichladdich Octomore Series represents a singularly unique expression in the world of Scotch whisky.
Bruichladdich Octomore 6.1 is the sixth release in Bruichladdich's Octomore series. The whisky takes its name from Octomore Farm, a farm situated high above the village of Port Charlotte just two miles away from Bruichladdich Distillery (the farm provides all of the barley used to create Bruichladdich Octomore). Once barley from Octomore Farm has been harvested, it is malted before being peated to 167 phenol parts per million, making it one of the peatiest whiskies in the world. In contrast, other distilleries on Islay such as Laphroaig and Ardbeg peat barley to approximately 40 or 50 phenol ppm, while Leviathan II Whiskey is peated to 110 phenol ppm.
After the barley has been peated, it is mashed using water drawn from the Bruichladdich loch. The water is soft and devoid of minerality, which makes it ideal for mashing and fermenting the barley. Following fermentation, the wash is twice distilled through Bruichladdich's 130 year-old, 20-foot tall, diamond-shaped stills. The Victorian-era stills produce whisky that is notably floral and elegant. "We have a distillery," says Jim McEwan, the master distiller at Bruichladdich, "and we know how to use it."
Once the whisky has been distilled, it is matured for five years in American oak casks that were previously used to mature bourbon. The whisky has a strong, deep aroma of fire and warm, smoky sweetness. The initial flavors of apples, pears, cinnamon and citrus are complemented by a bold and ever-present undertone of smoke. Thick and textured, the whisky finishes with a warm, smoky flavor that lingers.
"This is no monstrous brute," says McEwan. "It's an iron fist in the velvet glove. That's what you get when you combine massively smokey barley with the purest spirit around. It's like nothing else on earth. It also shows what great quality barley, slow, artisan distill ing, and premium quality wood can achieve."
Much like Bruichladdich Octomore 6.1, Bruichladdich Octomore 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from barley harvested on Octomore Farm. Once the barley has been harvested, it is malted and peated to 80.5 phenol parts per million. Then, the barley is fermented and distilled using the same process used to craft Octomore 6.1.
Following distillation, Bruichladdich Octomore 10 is aged for ten years. As a result of using less peat and maturing the whisky longer, Octomore 10 has a stronger aroma of dried fruits, particularly pears and raisins, than Octomore 6.1. In addition, the whisky has subtle undertones of juniper, cinnamon, honey, creamy vanilla and fresh mint that ultimately lead to a lingering finish. "The decade wait has been worth while," says McEwan. "There is pride in the character and honesty of this Islay son."
