About Laphroaig 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Laphroaig Single Malt Whisky is one of the most flavorful and intense whiskies made anywhere in the world. During Prohibition, it was one of the few whiskies still legally imported into the United States, as it was considered a medicinal spirit. Laphroaig Single Malt is made from the finest Scottish barley, which is then malted at the distillery and smoked over a peat flame. Unlike other distilleries which source peat from the Scottish mainland, the peat used to smoke Laphroaig barley is made of from the heather, mosses and lichens of Islay and adds a distinct iodine-like flavor to the whisky.After the barley has been malted and peated, it is fermented before being twice-distilled through Laphroaig's copper-pot stills. The unique stills have an usually flat base and flat surfaces, which lends to the overall intensity of the whisky. After the whisky has been distilled, it is aged in seasoned oak barrels, which are re-charred prior to being filled. The re-charring process caramelizes the remaining sugars in the barrel, and adds slightly sweet notes of vanilla and nutty dough to the whisky.
Laphroaig 18 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is aged for 18 years in the distillery's warehouses, which are situated along the shores of Loch Laphroaig. As a result, the whisky is imbued with a slightly salty tang that compliment its notes of oaky sweetness, dried citrus and peat. Following maturation, the whisky is bottled without the use of chill filtration.
Laphroaig 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made in limited quantities each year. The whisky earned the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2011 and 2012, and earned a score of 95 points from the Beverage Testing Institute.

About Laphroaig
Situated on the southern coast of Islay, Laphroaig (pronounced La-froyg) Distillery was founded nearly two centuries ago by Donald and Alexander Johnston. The distillery derives its name from the ancient Gaelic word "lag"(meaning hollow) and the ancient Norse word "vik"(meaning bay), which refers to its location on the shores of Loch Laphroaig.In 1836, Donald Johnston offered his brother £350 for his interests the distillery, and ultimately became the sole proprietor of Laphroaig Distillery. For over a ce ntury, the distillery would remain in the hands of one of Johnston's descendants. In 1954, however, Ian Hunter passed away childless and bequeathed the distillery to Bessie Williamson, a secretary that had been working at the distillery for two decades. Hunter was incredibly protective of the distillery — while he slowly revealed its secrets to Williamson after she had earned his trust, Hunter prevented a cooper who was employed at the distillery from publishing his memoirs because they described the workings of the distillery in too great a detail.

About James E. Pepper
Elijah Pepper began distilling whiskey at the dawn of the American Revolution and during the War of 1812, he built the first log cabin distillery in Versailles, Kentucky. Eventually, he passed the family business on to his son, Oscar, and then on to his grandson, James E. Pepper.Colonel James E. Pepper was one of Kentucky's first Bourbon aristocrats — he raced thoroughbreds in the Kentucky Derby, traveled in a private rail car and made famous the Old Fashioned cocktail. "Pepper Whisky is an old fashioned whisky, made in the old time way from a formula used for more than 100 years by three generations of the Pepper family," wrote James, in an advertisement dated August 22, 1887. "We claim not only to make the oldest but absolutely the purest and best brand of whisky made in America, and we invite comparison with any whisky of any age."
In 1958, after the whiskey industry fell on hard times, the James E. Pepper Distillery was forced to close its doors. During its tenure, Pepper Whiskey, or "Old 1776 Whiskey" as it became known as, was a favorite of Presidents Andrew Jackson and Ulysses S. Grant, and was preferred by Daniel Webster, a leading American statesman and senator from Massachusetts.
Today the re-launched brand is back in full force. "We did extensive research and spent years collecting and analyzing full, preserved bottles of original Pepper Whiskey," says Amir Peay. They even acquired a letter written by Pepper himself, detailing the exact mash bill and recipe used to create Old 1776. "We wanted to pay homage to Pepper's legacy and do our best to recreate the original Pepper Whiskey — something that was part of American history," he says.
About Rye
As American as the bald eagle, rye whiskey was first brewed in the American Northeast in the 1600s. Even George Washington distilled it after leaving the Oval Office, so there’s no way of denying its origin.
It’s distinguished from bourbon for its original and unique spicy notes.

Situated just a few miles north of Scotland's mainland, the Orkney archipelago was occupied by a number of different nomadic and belligerent tribes for centuries. In 875, however, the islands were annexed by Norway and settled by the Norse, who began using the archipelago as a base for Viking raids across Europe. In 1468, the islands were pledged by King Christian I of Norway as a dowry to King James III of Scotland, and since then, the islands connection with Scotland has been perpetual.Situated in the city of Kirkwall — the capital of the Orkney Islands — Highland Park Distillery was founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson. The name of the distillery is derived not from the region of Scotland known as The Highlands — the Orkney islands are not a part of The Highlands — but rather, from the region known as High Park, where the distillery was founded.
Highland Park Loki is the second of four releases in the Valhalla Collection available from Highland Park. Named for one of the most treacherous and mischievous characters in Norse mythology, Loki is a 15 year-old limited edition single malt whisky that was matured in both sherry casks and casks that were previously used to mature heavily peated whisky.
The whisky, much like the god it pays homage to, is intriguing and complex, and is housed in an award-winning wooden frame that echos the fearsome contours of a traditional Viking ship. While it has an aroma of citrus and spice, the palate is robust and chewy, with notes of intense smoke and hints of dried fruits. The smoke fades to notes of licorice and chocolate, and finishes with a touch of cloves, cinnamon, vanilla and hickory smoke.
"While everyone will recognize the definite "˜Highland Park-ness' of this 15 year old single malt," says Gerry Tosh, the marketing manager at Highland Park Distillery, "it will be the unexpected and surprisingly smoky dynamics that will really get palates excited and mouths talking. This is unlike any expression that has come before and will beguile and fascinate with its complexity and trickery."
Highland Park Loki Single Malt Scotch Whisky earned a score of five stars from F. Paul Pacult's Spirit Journal, which rated it one of the top thirty spirits in the world.

Highland Park distillery was founded by Whisky smuggler Magnus Eunson in 1798 and legend has it that he used his position as a church officer to conceal Whisky beneath the pulpit to keep it out of sight of interfering governmental types. What we do know for sure is that Highland Park is the northerly most distillery in Scotland — sitting way out on the island of Orkney in the far North Sea, just below the Arctic Circle. It’s as close to Iceland as it is to London.Because the name is “Highland Park,” it may be easy to think that means their whisky is made in the Highland style. But it’s quite different. In character, their spirit is closer to a midpoint between Lowland style and peated Islay single malts. And it’s signature style and dedication to superior quality keep it broad range of whiskies in high demand. In fact, spirits journalist and whisky legend Michael Jackson called Highland Park, “The greatest all-rounder in the world of malt whisky.”
Highland Park Freya was the third in a four-part Valhalla Series of limited edition single malts named after Norse deities — this one released in 2014. It’s a lightly peated and delicate dram aged fifteen years in ex-sherry casks. Freya was the Norse goddess of love, beauty, gold, and war. In 1738, a brewery was built upon Morangie Farm in the Highlands region of Scotland. A century later, William Matheson acquired the farm and equipped the Morangie brewery with two stills that he purchased second-hand, and renamed the brewery-converted-distillery Glenmorangie.Glenmorangie Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made using malted barley, which is mashed and fermented with water sourced from the Tarlogie Spring. The water produced from the spring, which spends nearly a century underground being filtered through layers of limestone before it is extracted, is unusually rich in minerals. In the 1980s, when development in the area threatened the spring's water quality, Glenmorangie purchased 600 acres of land around and including the spring in order to ensure consistent water quality and adequate supply.
After the barley has been fermented, the wash is twice distilled through Glenmorangie's copper-pot stills by a team of 16 distillers known as the Sixteen Men of Tain. Glenmorangie's stills are equipped with relatively small boiler pots, which increases the exposure of the whisky to the copper, resulting in a more pure flavor. In addition, the stills are nearly seventeen feet tall — the tallest of any distillery in Scotland — and as a result, produce a lighter, more refined whisky.

Glenmorangie Ealanta 19 Year Old Single Malt Scotch
About Glenmorangie Ealanta 19 Year Old Single Malt Scotch
Following distillation, Glenmorangie Ealanta Single Malt Whisky was aged for 19 years in heavily toasted virgin oak casks. "Toasting just gives an altogether more subtle taste experience," says Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie's Master of Whisky creation. Lumsden, who holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry (he wrote his dissertation on yeast physiology) and is the only person in the world to have been honored with Whisky Advocate's "Industry Leader of the Year" award three times, is one of the most respected figures in the Scotch whisky industry. "Charred oak gives a large amount of flavor really quickly and while it may work beautifully for the oily, gutsy spirits distilled in Kentucky and Tennessee, it's not ideally suited for our rather refined and delicate Scottish spirit." As a result, Lumsden aged Ealanta exclusively in casks that were coopered from slow growth oak after being air-seasoned for just one year, as opposed to the traditional 18 to 24 months.After the whisky was poured into the heavily-toasted casks, it was allowed to mature in Warehouse 3, one of Glenmorangie's dunnage-style warehouses, which is equipped with stone walls and damp floors. "Rather than driving the extractives out of the wood, which you would get in a typical Kentucky heated warehouse, this allows the flavors in the wood to be coaxed out very gently, and it develops a lot of complexity," says Lumsden.
Following its 19-year beauty rest, Glenmorangie Ealanta Single Malt Whisky was non-chill filtered and bottled in its natural color at 92 proof.
Glenmorangie Ealanta was named the 2014 World Whisky of the Year by Jim Murray's Whisky Bible, with a score of 97.5 points — the highest score ever. Only a select number of bottles were made for the Private Edition collection.

About Glenfarclas 25 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Glenfarclas 25 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from freshly harvested barley, which is steeped in water sourced from the heather-clad slopes of the Ben Rinnes mountain. The crystal-clear spring water, which cascades down the 3,000-foot mountain through peat and granite, is the lifeblood of the Glenfarclas Distillery. After the barley is malted, it is milled and mashed before being fermented using 100% cultured distiller's yeast.The wash — the liquid that remains after fermentation — is then distilled twice through Glenfarclas' copper-pot stills. While most distilleries use steam-powered stills as they are more efficient and preserve the lifespan of the still, Glenfarclas Distillery continues to use direct-heated stills in order to preserve the traditional flavors of the whisky. After distillation, the heads and tails of the distillate (the whisky produced at the beginning and end of the distillation process) are discarded and only about 15% of the distillate — the heart of hearts — is preserved for maturation.
Glenfarclas 25 Year Old is the quintessential Speyside sherried single malt scotch. The whisky has a smooth, silky texture, along with a rich aroma of berries, tropical fruits and fruitcake. The aroma gives way to notes of hazelnuts, toffee, dried fruits, milk chocolate and espresso on the palate. The finish is rich and everlasting, with hints of cherries, chocolate and nutty smokiness.
Glenfarclas 25 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky earned the Silver Medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 2014. In addition, it earned the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2009.

About Glenfarclas
Situated on the Recherlich Farm in the Speyside region of Scotland, Glenfarclas Distillery was founded in 1836 by Robert Hay, a tenant farmer. In 1865, John Grant purchased the distillery from Hay for £511. Grant was a cattle breeder at the time, and was looking for a staging post between his farm in Glenlivet and the commercial market situated in Elgin.When Grant passed away in 1889, he left the estate to his son George. George died shortly thereafter and his children, also named George and John Grant, took control of the distillery. After saving the distillery from the brink of bankruptcy, the Grant Brothers modernized and expanded the operations such that in May 1912, a rival distiller wrote: "of all the whiskies, malt is king — of all the kings, Glenfarclas reigns supreme."
Today, George S. Grant — the great-great-great grandson of a cattle farmer — represents the sixth generation of Grants that own and manage the Glenfarclas Distillery, one of the last remaining independent distilleries in Scotland.

Glenfarclas 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is matured for 21 years in a combination of ex-bourbon casks and ex-sherry casks (the sherry casks had previously matured Oloroso and Fino sherry in Seville, Spain). As a result, the single malt has an aroma of butterscotch and dried fruits, which gives way to full-bodied and rounded notes of chocolate, cherries and a touch of smoke and honey. The lingering finish has hints of toffee and caramel.
Glenfarclas 21 YO Single Malt Scotch Whisky earned a score of 95 points at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge in 2013, and was rated "extraordinary."

About Dalwhinnie 25 Year Old Limited Edition Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
After the barley has been milled and mashed, it is fermented in the distillery's original, wooden washbacks. While wooden washbacks are more expensive and difficult to maintain as compared to stainless steel washbacks, they absorb a portion of the heat generated during fermentation, and thus, enable a slower and longer fermentation process. Following fermentation, the wash is distilled twice, first through Dalwhinnie's copper-pot wash still, and then again through its copper-pot spirit still.Dalwhinnie 25 Year Old Limited Edition Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled in 1987 and matured for a minimum of 25 years in rejuvenated American oak casks. The whisky was bottled at cask strength in 2012. It has a golden amber color, along with an aroma of roasted nuts, cinnamon buns and syrup. The aroma gives way to notes of malted grains, summer fruits (particularly cherries and plums), cocoa and coffee on the palate, and ultimately leads to a finish accented by notes of creamy vanilla, ginger spice and honey.
Only 5,358 bottles of this unique single malt were ever made, and only a handful of bottles were allocated to the United States. Pick one up today!

Situated along the Grampian Mountains in the Highlands region of Scotland, Dalwhinnie Distillery was founded in 1897 by John Grant, and was originally named Strathspey Distillery. In 1898, Grant declared bankruptcy and sold the distillery to AP Blyth, who renamed the distillery Dalwhinnie. The name, which roughly translates to "meeting place"in ancient Gaelic, is a reference to the cattle farmers who would pause at the distillery on their journey south to the cattle markets in Crieff and Falkirk.Dalwhinnie Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made exclusively from freshly harvested, plump barley, which is milled and mashed with water sourced from Lochan an Doire Uaine (meaning "Loch of the Green Thicket"). The pure spring water, which travels through local peat before reaching the loch (the loch itself is situated 2,000 feet above sea level), imparts a soft yet subtle complexity to the whisky. Since no other distillery may legally use water drawn from Lochan an Doire Uaine, no other distillery is able to replicate the unique, malty-sweet taste of Dalwhinnie Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Dalmore Distillery Selected By Daniel Boulud is a collaboration between Dalmore Distillery Distillery and Daniel Boulud, a Michelin star chef. The whisky is a unique assemblage of single malt whiskys that were originally matured in American white oak casks, and were ultimately finished in casks that previously used to mature Muscatel, Madeira and Port wine. The whisky has an aroma of warm, enticing honey, spices, pears and apples that give way to notes of crushed almonds, citrus fruits and cherries on the palate. The finish is exotic and spicy, with a touch of cloves and ginger.The whisky earned a score of 97 points from Wine Enthusiast, which rated it the top single malt Scotch whisky of 2013. About The Dalmore
Situated along the banks of Cromarty Firth in the Highlands region of Scotland, Dalmore Distillery was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, who had earned his fortune illegally importing opium from the Far East. In 1886, Matheson sold Dalmore Distillery to Clan MacKenzie, whose century-long stewardship and defining influence over the distillery is still evident today — the 12-point stag adorned on every bottle of Dalmore Distillery Whisky is derived from Clan MacKenzie's coat of arms.Dalmore Distillery Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from plump, golden barley sourced from the rich, coastal soils of the Black Isle. Once the barley has been harvested, it is milled and mashed before being fermented with water drawn from the Cromarty Firth. Prior to reaching the firth, however, the water travels from Loch Morie through a number of peat bogs and limestone quarries, and thus, contributes a slightly mineral and chewy mouthfeel to the whisky.
Once the barley has been fermented, the wash is distilled twice, first through Dalmore Distillery's copper-pot wash stills and then again through its copper-pot spirit stills. The wash stills have an unusually flat top, while the spirit stills are equipped with cold water jackets. This unusual equipment — the water jackets rinse cold water near the top of the still — makes it difficult for the lighter elements of the whisky to pass through the still, and ultimately results in a more opulent and rich whisky.
